Lake Oscawana, NY

Post by JoeMo »

Last Friday my Friend Bernie Mitchell and I re-visited a lake that we hadn't fished in almost 2 years- Lake Oscawana. The marina has been sold and remodeled in just about every way. I don't work for these fellas. In fact we paid full fare for the day on the water.

The MAnager said they charge $25 which includes parking on the premises. They have a clean Portajohn and a newly refurbished ramp. (The old ramp looked like a road in the movie M.A.S.H.!) And there are no fancy tricks in trying to back up your boat.

The fishing was excellent although the windy weather tried to dampen our enthusiasm. Bernie and I caught no large bass. Three pounds was about the best we both got. But we each caught a dozen legal bass and a pickerel or two. The good news was the number of 2 pounders in our catch. Almost half of our bass were in the 2 lb. class. Also they had full bellies and looked really healthy. (Not like 2 years ago, when they had a more scrawny look) Rock Bass attempt to steal your baits often. There are Walleye present but we didn't see any.

How can you fish there? Call (845)528-0758
They will tell you all you need to know.Again, there is nothing in it for the Moderator, only satisfaction that another good lake is available and waiting. (Yes, bassboats are welcome) JoeMo
