A dawn launch at the Stick Marsh on August 24th, 2002 produced over 50 bass for John Peace of Sebastian and fellow guide Alan Davis of Port St. John.
A healthy population of bass exists for the future as schoolies from recent spawns were caught as they pushed schools of shad around Farm 13. Top water plugs often produced instant strikes and deeper offerings meant larger fish as they searched for crippled shad.
We left those fish to try other areas with limited success. It was a good day with big fish potential but that is always the case at the Stick.
A lack of moving water has scattered many of the bass but a sharp eye and a little work can mean an exciting day on the water.
