Mississippi river report
The Iowa B.A.S.S. Federation Tournament held on the Mississippi river at Muscatine, Iowa was a good one. It took eighteen pounds to win the two day event. Largest fish caught was just over 6 1/2 pounds. There were several near five pounds caught and many four pound plus. The fish are really shallow as the water continues to rise, the fish are simply following the rising water table to cover. Best results were using spinnerbaits (chartreuse/Silver) and black/blue Jig and pigs fished in shoreline cover in backwaters. Some fish came from current breaks in the actual river which is rare. Some confirmed outbreaks of LB Virus in upper Miss. river pools 10-11. None here yet. All fish weighed were checked for the disease and found fine. Johnnie Crain
