bank fishing Clark's Hill?

I don't own a boat, so I only fish small ponds. I'm only 20 minutes from one of Georgia's best lakes (Clark's Hill), but wonder if not being able to get out in the deeper water will make it a waste? I can't go after bass that chase schools of shad, that's for sure. Bass chasing crayfish on rocky points will be about it. Any advice for bank fishing a huge lake like this?
