bass fishing in southeast georgia

Help! Just got stationed in southeast georgia and am having some serious problems finding any fishing areas to go to with the kids. seems that there are no freshwater lakes but there is a lot of ponds. the only problem though is that they are all on private property. been told the fishing is great around here but i am having no luck. Thanks in advance.
