Weeds driving me back to Fusion

Post by JoeMo »

My weeded lake is rapidly driving me back to using Fusion again.
I guess I wonder why I stopped using the product. I really like it and it cuts weed like a wire slices cheese. Bear in mind that this is mainly for use in my little jewel- our 55 acre lake/pond.
I am open to suggestions about other lines that might help in the weed. Just tell me and I'll try it if it sounds reasonable.

PS- By the way, my Wife suggested I keep all the floating weed (that I bring in the boat)
right there- in the boat. And when I get to shore, it comes with me to the nearest can or other receptacle. Try it, you might like it!

Hey Joe have you tried Spiderwire? I rig a pole with nothing but 6lb diameter-30lb strengh on it!Seems to pull the BIG boys out of the weeds just fine.

Yes Sean. I have tried Spiderwire for years. I just got tired of SW sliding inside my split rings or twisting up on spinnerbaits.
I realize these are minor things, but this always seems to happen when I KNOW there is an active bass out there and I can't make contact with him because the "thread" is busy doing other things!

I love fusion. It stands up to the wind and sort of saws its way through vegetation. I use it bait-casting and spinning. Now I'm sure there are a ton of guys out there who disagree with me, but that's the same reason why there are Senkos and Stick-os or Sluggos and Flukes or Ford and Chrysler.

The only reason I stopped using it was I gave away my 7' spinning stick to my son. Now I have another, so it is time.

Thanks for posting. Take care. JoeMo

Joe, give Power Pro a shot. I personally abhor Fusion.

Fully understand you about the SW getting tied around just about everything you own! Seems like it always happens when you need that return cast right away!Just can't get away from the sensitivity of it though. You can practically feel a minnow trying to swim away with the bait!take care Joemo

Sean- I will try that Fusion (it's already in my tackle bag, so I'll use it.) It too is some pretty sensitive stuff. I used it for 3 years until I gave that rod to Bob, my son.

As to Power Pro MMT, my buddy let me make a few casts with his PP 2 weekends ago. I was impressed. Very interesting surface on the line. Hmmmm. that may be next. Will advise.

Keep 'em coming. JoeMo

Joe, I learned quickly that fusion and Mahopac don't mix well. I had a horrible time with it in the rocks. Didn't take much effort to break. I normally wouldn't consider braid around rocks but I wanted to test its limits. I just had a bad taste after that and promptly went to Power Pro which has been the best braid I ever used.

MMT- Thanks for the tip. Fortunately(?)I ran into that problem when all the original Spectra products hit the market (including Spectra kite string which was almost the same as SW) I used SpiderWire in Maho and the rocks ate the SW. Ditto when Fusion came out.
However I used Fusion in much less rocky lakes and it came up big for me pitching both tubes and jigs. Being "slightly" older than most of the BassinUSA Bass Fishing population I needed spinning gear to pitch with and Fusion did the job. Goes through weed like a wire through cheese. In my home lake I need that feature.

Now, I think that I may well order out a spool of Power Pro, as I said earlier. I'll post after doing that. BTW, much obliged. Keep posting. JoeMo
