The Walking Worm

Post by ED F. »

Just picked up a few packs of "The Walking Worm"! I'm sure you have all seen them in the bass magazines, you know "the lure that may be banned from tournaments because it catches too many fish"!

In all fairness, I have yet to try them at the lake, but I couldn't wait to drop one in my son's little pool in the yard to see the thing walk.

At first I thought, OK, maybe I got stuck with a cripple worm or a dud. So I tried another. Same result! The thing didn't even crawl, let alone walk! It simply sat there motionless!

I think the only walking that takes place here is when the baits inventor "walks" away with your money laughing! ($5 per 8 pack)

Ed, your right! These worms are just like any other new bait that is promoted highly on the market. Their out to catch more fisherman than fish. I bought some when they first came out. Have yet to catch a bass on them. Did hook a huge catfish on one though. I think that it comes down to confidence, if you can keep on throwing them with confidence, than eventually your going to catch some fish. Myself, I don't have that confidence. Good walking!

Ed,

This is exactly why we started having our ProStaff guys do product reviews. I'm tired of hearing stories of guys getting suckered into buying some miracle bait based on exaggerated marketing claims...

Together, we can make a difference (I hope)

Its ironic how I just read this post today. While eating breakfast and reading this mornings newspaper (Newsday), I saw an "article" or advetorial as its know in the business, about some golf club that out shot Tiger Woods and beat the all time distance champion. Wouldn't you know it, the same "author" of the walking worm "article" wrote this article too. Even more ironic, from the same town of Yatesville, CT. I guess the "inventor" of the walking worm got all the money he could from anlgers and has now moved on to golfers. My question is how does he legally get away with statements so bold, as the "The golf club that out shot Tiger Woods", which happened to be the heading

He's from Connecticut? Trust me, I don't know him.

This walking worm thing is incredible. First of all, it capitalizes on the fact that most fishermen are collectors of sorts. It also appeals to that part of us looking for a slight advantage over the other guys.

The only infomercial/advertorial introduced product that I ever thought was worth anything was the Terminator spinnerbait. The helicopter lure and the other one that "backed up" were 2 such creations. I once had a guy try to tell me that you didn't need to cast that lure that backed up. He said that each time you lifted it, it would get further away from you, like trolling but you would follow the lure. I'm not making this up.
I said to the guy "Skip, they are pulling your...leg."

These inventions are perpetrated by the world's second oldest profession. Hang in there. Next they will build a bait that jumps into your wallet, takes your money and leaves the skeleton of a crankbait as collateral.
lol

Meanwhile Ed, I'll trade you a helicopter lure for a walking worm. If it won't walk, you can fly it to the fish! Keep posting, guys. The more fishermen who see this, the better. Remember what Sy Sims said about an educated consumer. If we can make a difference, let's get at it.

Thanks for posting. JoeMo
