Skeeter Bass Boats

Post by Don House »

Guys/Gals sorry for the long winded post but I would like to know what everyone else thinks??

In 2000 I purchased a new ZX202c Dual console Bass Boat, with Gold and Silver Diamond Metal flake base with burgandy SS stripes. The boat it self is still great but there were issues with this silver metal flake paint, I was told there were about 25 others boats just like this with the same coloring problem. There was a bad batch of silver metal flake paint so something. This was from my dealership who was trying to help me out, but now he is going down for the count and closes shop... Now I'm on my own...

So after alot of communication with this boat maker they agreed they would look at the boat if I was to get it to a dealership they would have a truck pick it up and deliver it to down to Texas, So I did, I dropped it off at a dealership who was very helpful and understanding dealership I must add.

Winter went buy and after 3 months I called down to Texas to check on my boat and quess what? My boat was still setting Missouri not in Texas. A few Days later a truck picked up the boat and I was told by Boat builders Customer Service rep that they would look it over, they took the boat and buffed out the top cap on the boat and called me to come get it. So off we go 15 hours later I pickup my boat in Kilgore, boat looked great.

Now a year later and alot of fishing time in the sun the yellowing stain are coming back. I called this boat builder again to speak with someone over this and of course they will not do anything now because the boat is out of warranty SORRY??

I was told they only have a one year warranty on Quality of workmenship. 5 year on the base Hull. So I'm out! It's like buying a new car and in three years the paint is falling off your car.. Last year before it went to Skeeter, I took it to some other Glass shops look it over but alot of them would not touch it, one even told me If he was to fix it then it came back now it is his problem.. He used a little glass tube that looks into the layers of the gel and paint, this was comming from a layer so deep sanding will not work.

So now ever year or so I will have to have the upper deck of this boat buffed out to stop the fading yellow sliver paint or pay to replace the whole upper cap....

Well that is my story everyone. So becareful of what you buy, look over all fine print, I have spoken now with other boat makers in the US and most agree they would replace the upper cap, just because they don't want one of their boats out there looking like that..
