I just recently started fishing and need for someone to explain a carolina and texas rigs to me

I'll explain the texas style.
The texas style rig is used with a cone weight above the hook, although it can be a splitshot or bb splitshot, it doesn't matter. More weight for windy/deeper water coditions.

You thread the line through the weight then attach the hook. Use a worm hook. I like 2/0 size. ALthough you might want a bigger hook to sink faster, or a smaller hook to sink slower.

Hook through the nose of the worm then come out about half an inch through the body then pull that part up to the notch on the top of the hook.
Then stick the point of the hook in the body of the worm so that the hook is ready to pop out, but is not protruding.

When you get a bite it will be a twitch, or your line will start going out. Now remember when your worm is sinking it will initially start taking line out of your reel. After that stops and you get your line twitching, then put some slack in the line and snap the rod back as to set the hook.

To fish a texas style worm, you cast out and let it sink to the bottom. Once it has sunk to the bottom, you twitch it about 5 times and let it sit for about 5-7 seconds. Keep doing this until you're done with the cast. Make casts 10 feet apart from each other as to not spook the bass.

That's just the way I do it. There may be some better ways.

You might also want to try a trick worm on calm days. They can be really effective when fished slowly, and is also very easy to do.

All you have to do for this is get a baitholder hook, size 1/0, and hook the worm through the middle. Then cast it out.
Let it sink to the bottom. The fish will strike 99% of the time when it's sinking. Just twitch it after 10 seconds of sinking, until you are done with your retrieve.
