I have heard and fished all kinds of weather for spinnerbaits. I am just wondering what are some techniques and types of weather that other fishermen throw spinnerbaits. What is most productive for everyone?

Jeremy,
Spinnerbaits are effective all year round. You may need to adjust sizes or colors, speed up or slow down, stop and go, bulge across surface or crawl it along the bottom, but spinnerbaits are always a good selection. They are very versitile.
My favorite technique is to bulge the surface with a spinnerbait. I usually use a 1/2 ounce single spin for this. I make a long cast and begin a fast retrieve when the bait touches water, this will keep the blade just beneath the surface. I want to see an actual wake on the surface from the blade. I just keep it coming as slowly as I can, but fast enough to keep the " bulge" on the surface. Get some really hard strikes this way. It makes a great substitute for a topwater bait which can be slow going. I use this technique to locate active fish. I may then switch to a worm or jig and try for larger fish. Works great in stained water or clear. In clear water I downsize to 1/4 ounce with a silver blade and pearl skirt or gray.
Really there's no wrong way to fish a spinnerbait, crawl it over lay downs, bump it into stumps, cruise it through vegetation. Use it anywhere, anytime. Johnnie

Thanks for the help Johnnie. I will use these tips on my next trip. I love fishing spinnerbaits and my most successful color last year was a terminator firetiger. I caught two sevens in one day plus about 10-15 other bass. They were holding behind newly flooded wiregrass. Good luck on the water everyone!

I have fished and heard of other fishermen catching fish year round on spinnerbaits.Another thing about spinnerbaits is that there are different times of the day when the need to be fished. The best times for me are usually first thing in the morning and later in the afternoon. but as i stated spinnerbaits can be productive year round.

Another good technique is slow rolling in deep water. I like to fish them right under the surface also. Sometimes you see the wake of a bass right before he attacks your bait.

there are many techniques to fishing a spinnerbaits. It just goes to show how willing you are to stick with the bait that long to figure out what presentation the bass want. Spinnerbait fishing is one of the most exciting ways to catch a big bass.
