stick baits!!!

allright, so the big bass go getter is out....STICK BAITS (i.e. tiki stiks, senkos, yum dingers,etc...)!! Now all we need to know is what has worked for other people, as in what way to rig it, and the technique used while fishing them.

Texas rigged, no weight and real slow! At least that works for me. I actually prefer the Senko over the rest but I will throw some of the others based on the color I am looking for in a given situation. Also, the Tiki Bamboo stick has a larger profile that does make a difference in some situations.

When these first hit the market I like some others was a bit hesitant to try them. Man what a mistake that was! I have tried just about all of them including some homemade ones.

I rig them Texas rigged weightless and just let them sink to the bottom and let it set there. Give it a couple twitches and the let it sink and set again. I have also rigged them wacky with great results. If you can afford them senkos are probalbly the best but have had good luck with the Tiki sticks too.

Dont be afraid to fish it slow, the slower the better.

Some great stick baits that I think out-perform Senko's are made by Assalt. www.assalt.com
I recently caught an 11.7 pounder...3 lbs. shy of the state record.

I have been using A Bite N Bass Slugger with good success. These baits are hand poured so they have a flat side, I think this helps a little by slowing the baits fall, I hook the bait so the flat side faces down. Black and Blue flake works fine. These were the samples offed by Bite N bBass to pro staff members, and they work. Mostly fish them wacky rigged with a fine wire-weedless hook, drop it right through heavy cover and pull back out slowly. Like Conley said, fish them slow, the slower the better.
