does storing your soft plastic baits out of their original package and into a utility box damage the baits. will they loose their holding power? i ask this because i see bait kits stored open in utility boxes, and it looks like this method will help me keep my soft plastics better organized. you know instead of having bags scattered or in a giant box, i can have a box for senkos, lizards, craws, etc. what do you guys think?

There are some baits that bled on hard plastic storage boxes. Many baits are sold in the hard boxes and do not melt or bled. I have some bulk boxes that I put the bags in. This lets me organize in the diferent types of baits or what I need on the trip I am preping for. Hope tis helps.

Jason, I tried for a while to find the best method for me and what I finally settled on are simple gallon sized zip lock type storage bags for my soft plastics. What I do is to organize them by bait type or manufacturer, this makes it easier to find the one I am looking for and all I have to do is look in the bag for the one I am after. Of course, I leave the hard baits in plastic boxes under the bags. Hope this helps, it works well for me.

I use the same system with the gallon bags. All my straight tail worms are in one bag all the brush hogs are in another and so on. I think it works pretty good. The ones that I use the most (like Blue Fleck Power worm) are on hooks that hang inside my storage boxs from the lids.

My lids (storage boxs on the boat)have suports on the inside of them. I drilled two holes on each side of the suports and used the old wire shower curtin holders to hang the bags from. That way when I raise the lid the baits that I use the most are right there and I don't have to go digging for them.

I usually keep my worms in zippered bags also, always separated of course. Some, I add some good old salt into the bag or even a squirt of fish formula for unscented baits. I really don't like the see through storage boxes because over time, when exposed to the sun a lot, the soft baits tend to lose some color. That may improve some baits, but when I want purple-I want purple! Johnnie
