I have the first Baitcaster I bought, in 1964, a 511 Pflueger Supreme. And it still works very well.
And most of the others I've gotten since then too. some I hide so I won't have to look at them. Like four AmBASSadeurs from the early eighties, 'shudders'.
And two 2500C Ambassadeurs I won't part with for love or money. I'd buy some more of those if I could afford them.

However, I've been having a harder and harder time finding someone to keep them up. All the local reel repair guys either quit, retired or passed on the Great Lake in the Sky.

I can fix them, if I can get parts, but that seems to be going away too.
Call me hard-headed, but I want to keep them going for as long as I can.

Any suggestions as to a supplier online for older reel parts? I've Googled till I'm bleary eyed.

RNE,

There is a local shop around me that does reel repairs and restorations. Finding other small shops, might be an alternative for you. I would call these guys up and see if they would let you order parts through them. Here is their info:

Causeway Bait & Tackle
3031 Merrick Rd.
Wantagh, NY 11793
ph(516) 785-3223

Thanks! None of the repair shops are left around here.

You'd think that with as many fishermen in the area as we have there would be a takle repair shop in the area. I can't even find a decent one in Tulsa any more. Okiebug had an in-store shop for years, but they're no longer in business either. The place went to seed after Don retired.

(Edited Comment; I used BassPro shops reel repair service for a while too, but the last few times the work was not up to snuff. Others I've talked too about it said the same thing. Quit using them.)

I have a number of reels I'd like to get repaired, or parts for. Some I may not be able too, such as the seven or so Ryobi V-Mag's I have, pawls worn out, of course. Ran out of the ceramic pawls, like to find some more. I like those reels, they cast very well and handle heavy fish too.

Go to http://www.southwesternparts.com/frames.asp

They are great folks and can help you with just about anything with your reels. They are in Dallas. You can also call them but You can get the number from the website.

I can’t believe I forgot about Southwest!

When I had my shop we sent almost all of the warranty reel repairs to them.

Thanks a heap, call them right after the Holidays, and may everyone have a Merry Christmas!

The first spot I try for parts is BPS. They've never let me down.
