Ideal dock skipping bait

Post by bassin butch »

I have had great success with skipping lures under docks and pontoon boats especially during bright sky blue bird days. Most of my fish have come from small plastic worms and spider grubs but now I have found a new bait that is awesome. Last winter I purchased a few bags of Zoom Speed Craws and have used these as dock baits this summer.

I rigged these weightless with a 3/0 eagle claw wide gap hook. I use a spinning outfit with 10 pound test (Trilene XL) and a graphite rod (Berkeley lightning rod). I am very accurate and accomplished at dock skipping but always desired a little extra distance. Always wondering : "If I could get further under the dock maybe I could get to fish that I and others missed". I got to tell you a zoom speed craw does just this.

As a skipping bait it is compact, streamlined, and the craws pinchers move irradicably on the move, additinonally: the bait gets the distance to fully cover the dock or pontoon boat. The 3/0 hook and 10 pound line seems to be the ticket for distance. Bass have responded!

You might want to try these yourself, Zoom has come out with a solid (A+) dock bait, I'm sold give them a try and you will be as well.

Thanks
