Jeremiah - I have used Power Pro and it is the best braid in my opinion that I have used. I used to fish alot of natural lakes and loved to throw cranks in this weedy mess. But I spent alot of time clearing weeds off the lure because the mono had to much stretch (this was before today's modern advances in mono line) to snap the lure and clean the bait.

I changed to 8/30 Power Pro and it really made a big difference. Even in that clear water, I didn't feel the braid cost me bites. And I was more effective because my lure was more productive because it was cleaner. No mono leader. Just Power Pro to the crank. I did learn to always tie a palomar knot with PP. Tried to save time one day while flipping(12/50)and tied an improved cinch knot with PP. Bad mistake. First hit and a swing and a miss on the hookset. I tend to have to learn the hard way sometimes.

I will use the 65 or 80 this year to throw frogs up in the really thick stuff and may use the same line as the main line on one of my CR setups. I really like PP and the only negative I had with it was decreased casting distance on long casts. Flipping and pitching it was good and rarely dug into itself to cause major problems.

Hope this helps - Let me know if you need more info. Roger Spaulding

Roger,

Thanks for the info. I have used PowerPro myself but, I was just looking to see if anyone else had knowledge of the product. Sometimes I have a tendancy to become closed minded and assume that what I use is the best. In this case it appears that PowerPro is the best, so I am ok. lol

Thanks again

I have been evaluating Power Pro Line for about 3 months now. I have not noticed any differences than with any other braided line. The best braided line I have ever used is Cabela's Ripcord Si, it is made from Dyneema SK 65 which is a huge step up the evolutionary ladder from the Spectra™ used in other lines. Ripcord Si™ is 10 times stronger than steel and has virtually no stretch, plus it has a very small diameter. It’s completely waterproof thanks to tight braiding and is extremely resistant to ultraviolet deterioration. The silicone coating on Si™ gives it better abrasion resistance than any other braided line and allows the line to slip through guides and tips like it's defying gravity. PowerPro would be my second choice in braided line.

I have been using Power Pro for about 4 years. It is the best braid out there. The only problem I ever saw with it was its tendency to weeken if stored wet. This was also the lightest line they made 2/10. I think it may have rotted out.

I to have loved Power Pro over the years. It is very strong and you can cast it a mile. My new choice is a Mccoy braided line. I think it is just a little bit better then Power Pro. Just my thought.
