Buzzbaits?

Are they a good choice for the spring time bass? What color to choose? I went for black
What do all you pros out there have to say?

I'll start throwing a buzz bait when the water temp reaches the upper 50's (58-59 F). I will usally throw a white or white/chart skirted buzzer. I may actually replace the skirt with a tube or a fluke-like bait. I good indication for me is when i start seeing surface activity with bait fish.

Buzzbaits are very good in the spring. Unless the water was stained, I don't believe I'd use black. My best results have been with pearl colored skirts with silver or gold blades. Keep the buzzer moving as slowly as possible when the water temp is below 60 degrees. At times, I'll let the buzzer sink about one foot and retrieve it like a spinnerbait, when it rises to the surface I'll let it sink again. Find heavy shoreline cover and fish the buzzbait right over and through it. Another little tip. Bend the blade arm down toward the hook slightly so the blade touches the frame wire, this will cause the blade to strike the frame wire and causes a great clicking noise which helps attract bass to the bait. Later in the year, I'll switch to buzzbaits with dual-counter rotating blades, these really churn the water. Good luck, have faith, buzzbaits are a big fish bait, so hang on. Johhnie Crain, Iowa
