Hello to all Prostaffers from most of the time sunny California!

I bring this question up because I was interested to find out if there may be some tips or tricks you guys would like to share on the subject.

A few years ago I was down at Fishing25 in Los Angeles and the shop owner Raymond suggested I try usuing some line lubricant.

There was an item on the shelf nearby (which he could have sold to me) but he said, I sell this one but I've found something else that works even better.

The product he told me about is RD-50 spray lubricant which you and get at Home Depot he said. He showed me how to spray a little on my spool, and clean my guides lubricating them with RD-50 sprayed onto a Q-tip.

Told me this would help my casting distance and line handling in general. I've tried it out and it works pretty good.

The other thing he taught me about was line polishing. Simply use a small patch of paper towel or in my case my fishing gloves to every couple of casts polish the film that builds up on the line off to make it stay more transparent. I do that now habitually for about two or three feet at least.

Are there any other products or techniques you guys would reccomemd we try to improve line handling and or that can enhance the transparency (invisibility) of fishing line?

Geobass, I have had great luck using Blakemore Reel Majic. It is a highly atomized silicone spray that makes line slick and adds allows me to make longer casts. I also feel it helps get the line through weeds and grass. What I really like is it doesn't make your hands slick or sticky if you accidently come in contact with it. It also works well on soft plastics to make them slicker. Good luck and good fishin' Johnnie

I have to agree with Johnnie on the Blakemore Reel Magic. That stuff is great. Johnnie gave a great tip during an episode of "Dan's Fishin' Tales"... he's said you can spray Reel Magic on Jig Skirts to keep them from sticking together. It also makes the Jig slicker so that it comes through weeds better. (I hope you don't mind me sharing your tip Johnnie?) I tried it, and it works very well.

On a side note, there was a recent show with Hank Parker where he talked about putting wax on fishing line to help it float better when fishing topwater baits. The topic came up because Hank had talked about using 20-25lbs test mono for top waters, but a lot of guys have a hard time casting a top water bait on line that heavy. His suggestion was to use 12-14lb test line and add some wax (the kind that fly fishermen use) to the first 10 feet of line leading up to the knot. This is a really cool trick that improves your ability to "walk the dog" and more effectively work poppers.

Just some extra "food for thought"...
