If you had a choice to pitch or flip a bait, would it be a tube or a jig-n-pig and why?

Even though i am inexperienced compared to most of you on BassinUSA, I prefer to flip tubes for the simple reason that i feel more confident when I am using tubes because i have had a lot more success with them than I have the ol' Jig N' Pig. I hope that's good enough for ya cause that's all I got.

I enjoy pitching both a tube and a jig and pig and have confidence in both. I would have to say overall though I have had better luck with jigs from fall to spring. I am a firm believer that in the winter the main forage in most lakes is crawdads. We all know that a jig imitates a craw perfect. In the summer when the gills and other baitfish are moving then the tube works best. As is always the case there are exceptions to every rule but this is what I go by. Good luck and tight lines!

When I'm pleasure fishing I love the tube, I feel I can catch more fish on a tube, day in and day out. When fishing in competition I prefer the jig and pig. It just seems to catch larger fish on average. If I'm only going to get five bites, I'd prefer they be on the J&P. Also, I tend to catch fewer rough fish on the jig. Tubes agreat baits, but the j&P is a little better for me at least. As you know, we gotta have both to survive. Johnnie Crain, Iowa

I personally prefer to pitch a jig. My confidence level is so high using a jig that I almost feel like every cast is going to land in the mouth of a bass.

Honestly, I probably pitch jigs more than any other technique.

I too prefer the Jig to the tube. As for why its confidece in it. I have caught fish on a tube but I like to fish it weightless more than I do on the bottom. My home lake and alot of the others around me are loaded with boat docks. Pitching the tube weightless and just leting it glide down into the bass's haughts seems to work better for me. But I always go back to the J&P to really get the bigger fish.

As most everyone knows I am a tube fanatic, so it would be the tube. One reason is that the lure can be altered in many ways, which results in different presentations. They can be used with a weed guard jig head, or Texas rigged with a slip sinker. If desired, you can fish them weightless for an extremely slow fall, or near surface presentation. Flotation can be added to the inside, which will set them upward with a Texas rig on a pause.

This is not saying I don't use the jig. In fact, when I always carrying at least two rods rigged for flipping and pitching, and one has a tube, which the other has a jig.

I prefer a jig in heavily stained water, cold water or when the bass are fairly aggresive.
Tubes are better suited for clearer water, heavily pressured bass or anywhere both largemouth and smallmouth are avaliable.
Normaly I pith a 4" tube unless the average size of the bass or the need for a kicker arises, then I will pitch a 5" tube.
Most of the time I let the bass tell me what they prefer. I will give both a jig and tube some time untill I see which bait they are eating better, or I will pitch a Senko, or creature bait such as a Zoom Baby Brush Hog.

I am a fan of both and I'll have both of them tied on at any time any place and for any condition.
But if I had to choose one, I would go with the tube because of its versatility throughout the water column.
The tube is a high confidence bait for myself and my go to bait.

I would have to say my pig and jig because that is what I have confedance in.
