Besides a wind advisory I decided to go up and take a shot at it anyway. It was good to be back for my first full day of fishing in 08.

I concentrated mostly on jigs and dropshot/Carolina rigged plastics today. No swimbaits today.

I had a chance for presentation of all the usual bass goddies for the Lagoon.

For most of the day I pretty much had the whole south end of the Lagoon to myself. Nobody came buy.

It got pretty windy at times... gusting to 40 ever now and then. It was on and off, a few not so windy spells but it was steady wind in my face for most of the day.

At around 4 pm the wind picked up bigtime and I was considering leavind since I had had no bites since 11 AM when I got there.

Water temp was 52, water level was still pretty high, still going over the spillway at the south end by about an inch.

Barometer had been holding steady at around 30 for the past few days.

Since Casitas in now closed because of the invasive mussles there were several bass boats out that I had never seen there before. I asked the guys as they went by if they were there because of Butch Brown and they all said no.

They I asked them if they were there because Casitas was closed and they all said yes. The were all chucking Huds and I told them about some sposts to try out since they were new to the lake.

Anyway they all thanked me and then I pumped them for info about how deep the water was where they were at and wether or not they were metering any fish.

They were out in 25 ft. of water saying they were picking up marks but not getting any bites. Cold water I figure.

Well they were well within my casting distance and it's nice to know that I can hit water up to 30, maybe even 40 ft. deep if the winds at my back.

I did make one big mistake though. It got real windy and my cap almost blew off so I spun it around backwards, homeboy style.

The cap stayed on pretty good but at the end of the day I realized that I had not put any sunscreen on my forehead.
The cap has one of those platic snap strips in the back for size adjustment.

Now my entire forehead is sunburned with a white stripe across it. Good thing this is not one of those days that I've called in sick to work and went fishing.

I have to go to work tomorrow for sure.

So geobass is now geostripebass. LOL

Well guys I wish I had a better day and caught some fish but unfortunately I go zeroed. No bites, not even a nibble.

Good fishing to you guys, later.............. geobass

Yo! Roboworm99... yeah it was really a blast to be out there again despite the wind and the big fat zero.

More fun that watching the Kings get theire tukies kicked by the Canadians 5 to 2 on Saturday. And a lot cheaper too.

Good fishing to ya, later........... geobass

No fish, no bites and a stripe on your forehead... sounds like a diehard fisherman to me! That type of persistence can pay off big time... Like Robo was saying "at least your getting your money's worth out of the lagoon permit".

I'd STILL rather be casting a lure on open water over almost anything else... even if it doesn't produce a strike...

You'll get 'em next time!

Geo, the lagoon will probably be more crouded until Casitas opens in 1 YEAR

Your reports are ALWAYS GOOD

What are some good swimbait spots from shore
