Has everyone disappeared? Was looking forward to more SI pictures. Interpreting stuff has been a headache, don't know what I'm looking at half the time. Called Huminbird to see if they had an instructional DVD on the SI units. They said no, but recommended an outfit, Bennets fishing videos. Absolute waste of money, the DVD teaches what the buttons are, and nothing more. There is no aid in reading images.
I have the 797 unit. Mounted it on the bow next to my trolling motor graph. Having a hard time reading it, even when sitting down. Could move it to the council, but that seems to be a waste since the majority of time is spent in the front of the boat. Where do you guys mount your units, and are the larger graphs that much easier to read?
Fishing report. My club had their annual open on a small impoundment called Devil's Kitchen in Southern Il. Couldn't believe the lunkers. Four fish in the 9lb+ catagory, one eight+, 5 five lb+. Those were big mammas in anybodys book.

Hello out there?
Carl, sorry business has been good, not much time to work on computer. Ok, first fo all if you really want to learn how to read these units, I would recommend finding a guide in your area that uses these units. We get to work with them all day and have learned a bunch about them. Search sideimaging trips if you want. Next as far as this site goes, I want you to find and take some pictures with your unit that you are confused about and post them. There are some folks on this site that can look them over and tell you just about anything you want to know. Even if you know what these pictures are post them anyway. Would like to see other pictures from everyone.
I use my unit on the console as of now, which is a 997SI, I search around and find what I'm looking for, GPS it then go back and fishing it with the front unit which is a 937DF and getting ready to buying a new 1197 for the front soon. And yes the larger units are easier to read, but it comes at a price!
Any other questions send me an email...
Post away..
