New Orleans fishing

hey guys i went down to visit my uncle and fish

the first day i went with my cousin to their neighbors backyard .they have a platform so you can fish a small canal.
we caught some perch on bread.

second day my dad, uncle, me and a friend went fishing in the marsh. got some bait and went out. we caught redfish, sheephead, speckled trout, lady,fish, and other species too in 2 different spots. on the second one, the friend set out a live croaker. after 2 minutes the drags screamiong and the rod bending. i grab it and i fight a BIG bull red to the boat and land it. it was about 25lbs. YESSS!!! we moved to catch more bait and went to a good spot. we set out live pogys and on every cast a HUGE bull red!!!! we each caught 2 or 3 then left. min size of these fish where 25 lbs. long fight with light tackle. it was VERY FUN. i caught the biggest with it being 31 lbs

second day my mom, uncle, me , and the same friend fished in lake ponchatrain. we fish at a bridge opening and caught speckled trout. we moved to a spot 15 minutes away but didnt catch anything. so we went back and went to the other side of the bridge. every cast was either a trout of a small redfish. on one cast i caught a 10lb black drum. it was a long fisght with 12lb test. caught alot then left after we ran out of shrimp.

fourth day we went to my uncles other friend and we shot guns for 2 hours. first time ive shot a gun before. VERY fun. we shot pistols, rifles, and 2 MP-5's. then we went to his private bass pond and launched a small jon boat. i hooked the first bass on a old popper lure. it was around 2 lbs. then i missed a nice bass when it came unbuttoned. we moved to another spot and i got a 4 lb bass on the same lure. afterward my uncle caught a 3lb and he missed 2.

last day we went back to the canal and caught perch again for fun

last vacation before school!!!

Sounds like a ton of fun!! Those were some BIG REDS!! So you like shootin! Was the MP-5 on full auto? Sounds like a great trip to end the summer!

my dad has bruises from the rod butt
you cant get those from bass!!

that was my first time and it was fun
automatic is AWESOME!!

What are Reds? How do you fish for them?

redfish

they are a saltwater fish
small reds and big males stay inshore while big females go offshore
