TransOptic fishing line

I see Berkley has a new line out for 2010 called TransOptic. Over the years I have used various lines some with good results while others “not so much". Personally by trial and error I found the two line best for my style of fishing to be Trilene XL and Gamakatsu G power. Anyhow: The new TransOptic line caught my eye (pardon the pun) as nearing 50 years old my eye sight is not what it once was.

Anyone try this line from Berkley?

I don't need hi-vis line to watch my line. I am very good at line watching, tip watching, and feeling bites so I don't need this, but I can see some people that want hi-vis line but don't want to have it be visible under water would use this.

I dont need it either; but several of my rods are set up for "Technique specific" use. This new line would be great for drop shoting.

Another lil thing I do is: position my boat downward of current flow. I toss senko's up to bridge eddys and allow the current to move the bait. Hi-vis line will jump as the bass takes the senko.

It is mono, so I wouldn't use it for drop shotting. I am very good at sensing bits and seeing bites when I am drop shotting.

I have a habit of world class hook sets so I need line to stretch. My buddy’s call it the butch set! Mono takes up the shock of a hard hook-set and has worked for me over 25 years of bass fishing. Only other line type I use is 50lb power pro, this used on my slop pole.

Yes, I use the TransOptic. It has performed well. Seems I get fewer backlashes with it and it hasn't kinked on my reels yet. I guess I feel bass can see any line underwater to a point. That doesen't really bother me. They are looking at something very unnatural when they see our baits, yet they still strike. I reccommend the line. Johnnie
