TV host survey

Just finished reading a survey on anglers favorite tv fishing show hosts and thought it would be fun to get some of your opinions to see if there is any difference. Of course, my choice would be Dan Galusha of Dan's Fish-N-Tales, but he didn't make the list. Here were the options, please add others if you wish.
Fish Fishburne
Hank Parker
Bill Dance
John Anderson
Ronnie Kovac
Babe Winkelman
Joe Bucher
Shaw Grigsby
Al Lindner
Roland Martin
Will report results after a few posts. Johnnie

My favorite hands down is Hank Parker.

One of my proudest moments came a few months ago when Hank called me at home. I was so excited that I almost forgot how to talk. About 2 hours later I came downstairs from my office and my girlfriend asked who I had been talking to for so dang long. When I told her it was Hank Parker her reply was "Yeah Right." She didn't believe me until she looked at the caller ID.

Hank was just as nice on the phone as he appears to be on television.

Hank is also at the top of my list. But I also like:

Classic Patterns - Lucky Craft Pros - A different one each week. Very informative.

Bass Champs - Texas T Trail - Show stays with one or two teams during the T. The host is a little much, just hit mute when he's on.

Orlando Wilson was a favorite also, but I have not seen him in a while.

Jimmy Houston, by far is still one of my most favorite shows... I have the pleasure of meeting and fishing with him. Great guy all around.. I drew Jimmy at the 2000 Kansas Gov CUP, it a charity event for homeless kids in Kansas. We fished Wolf Creek Nucular Power Plant. His laugh alone kept me rolling on the deck..

Next Hank Parker, I've watched his show for years now.. A Friend of mine is a guide on Table Rock called me one day last year and asked me to help him with a large group he was taking out for a day of fishing. I think ok a corp group of Business Men, But it was Hank Parker and his Oldest Son and a few other Bush Racer Car drivers!!! It was a blast, Ended up with one of the best days of fishing I ever had with Hank and got a paycheck for it..

Denny Brauer The Bass Professer, this is the one I have learned the most from, Denny allways shows tournament tactics which do help....

And of course Fish Fishburn or Go FISH.. This was my Girls favorite show for a few years, It was just a good show for everyone...We were sad to see him go...

Johnnie,
Thanks for the listing amongst the hosts.

As you know my favorite is my friend and teacher in this business - Virgil Ward. He is just as nice in person as he seems on camera. An extremely religious and family man, who would never hurt anyone knowingly. While some would charge for autographs, Virgi does not. Even when people have offered to pay postage, he doesn't accept it, and sent autographed photos.

Virgil is the grandfather of all modern day fishing shows, and after producing the documentary on his life, I learned what a big chance he took in trying to put together such a project. The people we interviewed told how it was such an uncertain thing. All of us in this industry should remember him fondly, and give him a pat on the back, and well done for breaking the ground. I know Al Lindner feels the same, as he stressed this during his interview for The World of Virgil Ward.

Speaking of Al, I would say his new Edge show is a good one. High tech, active and full of information.

Thanks again Johnnie, and I've still got to get an interview with you. Show starts April 1.

Best of fishing,
Dan

Hey fellas, I've always liked Bill Dance, and Roland Martin, but if theres fish in a show, I'll watch it. You forgot to mention "the reel deal, with Dennis Bligh Jr" http://www.dennisbligh.com/video.htm , watch and laugh at my lack of verbal skills. Theres a guy named Charlie moore who is huge in New England, and just got another show on ESPN2 called Beat Charlie Moore. He;s a little much at first, but you learn to love him.

Thanks guys, all good choices. I guess I lean toward Shaw Grigsby, he seems to have fun, loves every fish he catches and offers solid advice.
Roland is a great angler, but I feel there's a little to much (I) in his shows.
Dance is good, but I really get tired of him fishing that private pond and catching the same dozen bass over and over.
Houston laughs way too much, no one can be that happy (can they)?
Al Lindner is sharp and educational, probably the best all-around angler.
Babe eats too many bass for my liking.
Joe Bucher is an excellent musician, writes and performs his on theme music, but doesn't have the great stage presence needed for the show. Too matter of fact.
If Virgil was still active he'd be my choice as he has been for forty years.
Hank Parker is good but hard to understand at times, he talks funny.
The new Edge series is good, like the tournament incites. Thanks again, Johnnie
