Is it me or does Basschamps allways say they pay out more than what it shows on thier site???
I mean i want to know if any one else see's this?
or is it me? I have added it up 6 times, and it does not match what they say!
by my figures they pay out 92% not 96.% what ever!
it doesn't sound like much, but when you have 325 teams show up it's alot!!
I don't mind them making a buck but a killing at the exspence of me and the rest of the teams who pay our fees, tryin to win a Skeeter Bass boat.
you'd think they would pay out what they say.
they have to know word of mouth will catch up to them.
I'm not a unhappy camper or sore losser, it's just that they make me take a poly to find out the truth, then they lie and put it in writing,,lol
I guess 'Skeeter Boats' knows about this!
And if so why do they let them do it??
I'd be askin some Big Q's if myname was on it,lol
If i'm wrong plz let me know, but i have talked to a several teams that fish with them and they all looked at it and said the same as me.
sry for the long post, but think it needs to be said, if they will lie about that what else will they do,,lol
keep a tight line and catch and release

Bin_Bingo,

I appreciate your post and I understand your confusion if you are not at our events. The explanation is very simple.

The payback number includes CASH & PRIZES.
In addition to the cash that is paid throughout the places, the boat has a retail value of $28,000, plus we give away an average of $4000 to $7,500 in additional prizes, certificates, cash cards, etc, at every event of the season.

The additional prizes are givin in various ways. IE: Flipping Contest, Early Entry Drawings, Volunteer Drawing, Trivia Questions, Sponsor Drawings, Allen Samuels Test Drive Bonus drawing, Door Prizes, etc.

For example at this last tournament on Cedar Creek we gave away the following additional prizes(in addition to the places and the boat)

Prize Retail Value
7 Pairs of Maui Jim Sunglasses ($300 each)
2 St. Croix Rods ($200 each)
2 $100 Academy Gift Cards ($100 each)
3 Daiwa Reels ($90 - $150 ea)
4 Continental Batteries ($75 each)
2 Keel Shields ($150 each)
1 Dual Pro Charger ($195)
4 X-Tools ($40 each)
2 Pro Rule Measuring Boards ($25 each)
-----------------------------------------------
Total Prizes: $4045
+
Total in Places including boat $74,650
=
Total in Cash & Prizes
(as Printed on results) $78,695

Hope that helps clear things up for you.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

Yep, it's to good to be true!!! But it's true!!! Before BassChamps came to town if I wasn't in the money it was time to load it up and head for the house.

Not anymore!!! I stick around at the weighin and see what I might win!!! The flippin contest is great and you would be surprised at just how good some people can flip. Won myself a $100.00 rod last year in the flip'n contest. We didn't even bring a fish to the scales that tournament!!

BassChamps gives out prizes like there .50 candy!!! BassChamps is top notch and puts on the best tournament trail I have ever fished!

Hey Chad,
Keep up the great work! And I would like to think Jeff again for showing me and my partner how to release the air in a bass's swim bladder. Never thought I would have to fish 35ft+ water to catch fish until Belton!!!

Hi Chad glad you tried to clear things up
But I thought most of those things were given to you by your sponsors!
Not paid for with entry fee money.
There is a difference, ie; if something is given to you then it would be free to you right?
ie; Should not be counted as money paid in or out.
But I may be wrong, and this is a good place to talk about it, especially since you took down my post at your site, which said the same as this one! And you won't let me post any more on your site,,lol
Thanks for putting up your phone number, but I think it would be best if "I" talked here!
I mean, I would hate to think about what might happen if you found out who I am! Since I do fish your turnies!!
This forum is still open for every one to read! Thank you very much Fishingworld.com
See you later and keep a tight line.

Hey Bingo,
Where is all your support? Seems like everyone that agreed with you would be jumping on the bingo wagon
There's a simple solution, just finish in the money!!
We only had 175 teams and 14-24th place paid 500.00! Entry fee was only 250.00 PER TEAM.
So, if I read your post correctly your just unhappy with the way Chad totals things up? Free vs paid for??? But you keep showing up and fising Champs??? Must be cuss you like the payout!
You could excercise you american right and just not fish it and find something else. There's lots of other circuits looking for support since BassChamps has come to town.

Chad can add it up anyway he wants as far as I'm concerned! Because if I win a boat just once within the next five years, well I'm pretty sure I got my money back!
And if I never win a penny, well that's fishing!!! The biggest difference with BassChamps is the run one hell of a tournament! They'll be getting my "donations!"

Well I have told my friends what happend when i made the post at Bass Champs, they s
aid they would not post because of what might be done.
I don't blame them! look what happend to me!
All I did was ask a Q. because I wanted to know, and now I can't post on Bass Champs forum.
I will say this and I said it in the 1st post I'm not a unhappy camper, I just think they should show the correct payout %!!!
And speaking about the boat, what if they 'Bass Champs' didn't pay 28k for the boat?? Thats like a used or new car salesman selling you a car at sticker price!!!! I know I'm not gonna give him my money because he throws a few .50 cent candies!
Also I know who you are and you have yet to take any of my money,,lol
What do you think would happen if they knew who I was??
and FYI I do fish other turnies, like Pro Team, Media and Sealy Outdoors, just to name a few.
Keep a tight line and please catch and release

What about the championship?? Money goes there for the top 10 free entries, banquet, speakers,
manpower to help run Basschamps. Very simple plan for you- if you don't like it, don't fish it. I have broke even every year when I fished it, and learned a great deal(more than money can buy!) Instead of complaining, get out there and win some money!

Bin,

I appreciate your posts. I'm a little confused. Bass Champs does not have a discussion forum. We share a board with the Texas Fishing Forum. However, I am not a moderator, so I don't have the ability nor the desire to delete anyone's post on that board. This is what the boards are for, to speak your mind. I like hearing all the feedback regardless of whether it's positive or negative.

If you had a post deleted, I can promise you, I wasn't responsible for it.

In fact, I liked your post. I have had several calls from new anglers that had no idea that they could win those kind of prizes and not even have to catch a fish.

Last year we had an angler win over $5,000 in cash and prizes, and he never even weighed in a fish.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. You can post it here or on the TFF, or contact me directly. If you would like an immediate response emailing me or calling is the best way. I don't always have a chance to read all of the fishing forums.

Sincerely,

Chad Potts, President

I'm glad I could help Chad!
See there you go, I help to huh Chad?
You other guys can flame me all you want but the bottom line is what counts, and last time I checked, I never let you look in my pocket to see how much I have won "Ron"
Thats part of the problem you people don't know what or who's in who's pocket do you, and to tell you the truth "Ronnie" I wasn't asking the Q. to help you!
I'm sure if I said I was giving away 10 Xlarge suckers valued at 30,000. dollars, some would just plop the money down and go fishing,,ha ha ha
But Chad, the fact is your site does have a forum button to click on, true; TFF is where you end up, and to help you again Chad, and also clear up your confusion goto your site and look at the top right it will say forum! hope that helps you!
One more Q. Chad do you pay for all the stuff you give away at your turnies?? or are they given to you??
Hope that didn't throw you back in a state of confus---- well enough said on the confused part.
But do you or are they given to you??
Because that does affect the payout or bottom line doesn't it??
I await your next post

Bin:

You must think that Chad, Jeff, et al. do all that they do (organizing, promoting, advertising and directing tournaments in 4 different regions) for free as a charity to benefit you. No one associated with Bass Champs should have to defend themselves from your attacks. They run the most honest, professional tournament circuit in the State of Texas.

You can make all of the excuses and whine all you want, but the lack posts agreeing with your position is evidence that you are all alone in your views and have very few, if any supporters.

If you don't like the payout, stick with those other circuits and away from Champs.

Hey Bingo,
I bet you have a double standard. Lets say you win a drawing for a new rod or reel. The drawing was to help raise money for the local highschool band that helped run the tournament. The rod or reel was donated to them. They simple asked for donations (cash) to get into the drawing. You put in two dollars because your a nice guy and want to help.
WOW!! Guess what you just won a new reel retail value of 150.00!!!!
You decide you really don't need it and being the standup guy you are and since you only paid 2.00 dollars for it you sale it for 2.00 or just give it away???

Yeah right!!! You may not ask full retail price, but I bet you don't give it away either. Then again maybe "you" would, however I would be willing to bet 75% wouldn't!!!

And the Sealy Outdoor comments??? Please, you really think they pay for everything??? Thats what this is about right??

It's not ok to total things up by there retail value according to Bingo. I bet if someone lelt him a truck, lets say it's worth 5000.00.... I bet ol Bingo wouldn't give it away when he thought he was ready for something else. I'm sure he wouldn't even look up what's it worth. It was given to him, right?

Ok this is for all of you that don't know how to add and subtract, I'm gonna explain it in such away my 8yr old would understand!

Lets say John Q. is putting on a turnie.
He says he is paying back 96%
The fee is $100. Plus $25. dollar membership!
And only one person showed up to fish and he won!
how much would he get back??
Would you think $96.
?
Or would you want $21. and a $75. dollar battery??
Because if I counted the battery as part of the packout, you would walk away with $21. and a new battery.
and I would walk away with $79. Bucks
Now do that 325 times and see what you get!
That does not include the mem. fee of another $25.
So for those of you who can't add or subtract, here is what it comes up to with out the mem. fee; $25,675.00 Thats how much John Q. would keep!
or with the mem. fee $33,800.00
Now I know whats coming next, "DUHH hey he didn't give away 325 batteries!
So remember I'm doing an example.
The bottom line is John Q is trading you batteries for Dollars, pretty good salesman i'd say.
And m m is right when he said he got a Check for 30th place.
HELLO!!!!!
Maybe John Q. could pay out more places like Pro Team and the others, if something didn't get confused and the entry fee money didn't get traded
for .50 candy! Or batteries.
Hope that helps those who are having a problem understanding % versus money.
Show people a new boat, then add some smoke and mirrors and they usually can't see.
But then again maybe you guys just need new batteries
Please catch and release

Did John Q. advertise cash & prizes for payout?? Or did it just say 96% pay back?

Your right I might not fish the next one!!!

However, can you tell me the average number of teams that partake in a BassChamps season??

I guess your saying that the smoke and mirrors is the only reason they keep growing???

And I guess they fooled 325 teams, thats 650 anglers....

So, out of those 500 anglers (I'll be nice and keep the number small) are coming to support your post...

The ones that support my side, well they don't need to post... They keep showing up at the BassChamps tournaments!!!

Good luck this weekend!!!

Shane, one more time the John Q. turnie thing, is not a real turnie!!
Gezz my 8 year old read it and explained to the letter what it meant, soooo I give up on you!
but before I go, are you speaking for Chad or the other hundreds that have posted?
Because I was talkin to Chad.
And if you don't understand the other post, there is no way I can explain "Average" so you can get your mind around it.
Has Chad been talkin to you? Is that why he is so confused?
Look for me at Bass Champs, I'll bring you a hand held calculator,, ha ha ha
But don't tell Chad I'm coming
In closing i'm not gonna chat with you any more, just Chad, so if he don't chat with me here, then I guess I could be right!
Lets see if any changes are made
And yes I'll bring you (2) two .50 cent candies
And luck has nothing to do with it!

Holy Crap, Bin_Bingo! If you got a problem with Bass Champs report them to your local authorities for highway robbery! You don't seem to be able to sway anyone here...

Bin_Bingo

Posted: Mar 07, 2004 at 12:14 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not trying to sway!
Just stating what I see as the truth.
96% of a hundred, does not= $21. and a battery, or what ever you give away!
And claiming it is, after someone gives you the stuff to give away, is just wrong.
I could see you hitting a slot in vegas and them handing you $21. and a battery.
saying "96% payout" means "MONEY" if you want to give some thing away, then don't count it as part of the money takin in! When it was given to you so you could give it away in the 1st place.
He gets a write off because it was given away and he keeps the money that should be part of the payout.
So Chad, does that mean you kept $4k of what was paid in????

ps. shush, sorry to here about you not having a job, hope you get one soon, good luck.
