I was just wondering some hot baits to try this year and where to use them. If you could, use all structures like brush, flats, heavy cover. Things like that.? It would realy be helpful. Thanks and good luck fishing.

I will be using shallow crankbaits-bluegill or shad patterns that dive to three feet or less over lay down trees in five to six feet of water. On flats I go with silver or gold bladed 3/8th ounce spinnerbaits with pearl or salt and pepper skirts. For stump fileds in shallow water I will use the crankbait again, spinnerbait or flip plastic craws, worms or a jig and pig-black-black/blue- or crawfish-brown/orange with brown frog. Heavy cover, I go with jig and pig, soft creature baits or a spinnerbait, if shallow, a buzzbait over the top. Color doesn't matter so much in very heavy cover, just movement. Hope this helps some. Luke, the "time" is now. If there is open water there are fish to be caught. Just remember, there won't be many strikes, fish slowly and close to the bottom. Use smaller baits. I know you are -bank bound- which makes it difficult but not impossible, small lakes, sand/gravel pits and farm ponds will produce some big bass at this time of year. The water here is 39 degrees, but the bass can be caught. Try to locate drop-offs with some cover. Good luck, Johnnie

Yeah, its a little diffa. to get to the deep spots on the the bank, but i do what i got to do...... Thanks for the advice. good luck on the water/./// :p :p

Luke find you a place on the bank that the channel (creek or River channel) swings in close to the shore. Fish there all around the deep water and the shallows. Just keep fan casting and working diffent depths with diffent lures.

There is a spot on the famous Lake Fork here in Texas that a man caught a Share a Lunker fish (over 14lbs) from the bank on a Craw Worm. So I know big fish can be caught from the bank. He was fishing a spot just like I described above.
