well i am the kind of kid that u whould probly not want to be hanging around your fishing hole
i weir eye liner black one eye and red on the other with fish net arm stockings black on one arm red on the other
baggie jeans wallet chain
i dress not like that because its the cool thing to do i dont dress like that because my friends do it

well im the kind of kid that u whould be like holey crap what is that
but i am a verry nice kid
i like helping people i fish do every thing that u like to do be outdoors, ride my bike to the lake .i dont do drugs and other activities that whould get me into trubble

what i am tring to get at is that if u see a person that is funny or goth or punk
that douse not mean that they are going to kill u or something
i love people i love to learn and i love every thing i just look like a creepy guy

so what whould u guy think if there was a person dress like me around u .idk at the mall or something

i guess the morel of this lesson for all is dont judge a bad looking cover for a good book

but just beacause there is some goth kid haging around dont mean that he is a great big ray of sun shine
just something for u guys to think about

because i was out fishing and theas guys came up to me, older guy
and they were asking so many questions so i though that i whould inform u all on a kinda important subject that i hold close to my heart

Heavy... That's sounds pretty "heavy" for a fishing website topic. All I can say is "to each his/her own".

In nature, it has been very common for "any" species on this planet to single out individuals that do not look the way the majority of the same species look.

Have you ever sat and watched the ducks at a duck pond? The group will single out any other duck that does not look the same or has a disfigurement or injury. It can be cruel to watch, but that is just nature's way.

As humans, we obviously have the right to dress and act how ever we choose. Some choose to go with the grain and others choose to go against the grain. It really doesn't matter what other people think, unless you want to fit in with the norm. If the Goth or punk look makes you happy, that's you choice, but you have to expect that people are going to stare because it is not currently considered "the norm".

Some people will judge you simply at first glance, and that is also normal. People judge each other even when they dress or act the way the majority does. Race, religion, ethnicity, etc. all play a role in peoples first impressions of others. Some people have found it to be an easy way to weed out the people you don't have things in common with. The ones who truly want to get to know you will get over their first impression and the others won't. Again, if you are truly happy with yourself and the way you look, then it doesn't matter.

The other thing to consider is that historically people who dress or act very differently from society's majority did so because they wanted to draw attention to themselves because they had a lonely childhood or some other incident in their past that changed the way they looked at themselves.

The fishermen on this site welcome questions from anyone because their interest is in helping other people enjoy the sport of fishing. I have never seen a post here that started with:

“Before I answer your question, can you tell me what you look like or what religion you practice, etc?”

I also think that if you were out fishing in your eye makeup and stockings and walked up to someone with a serious question about fishing that they would answer it…

I am sure that after you walked away most people would remark about the fishing apparel you have chosen for the day, but could you blame them? From what they know, the two things don’t normally go together. It’s kind of like hearing some of the following:

“Jewish people for Jesus”
“Vegetarians for Meat”
“The P.E.T.A. Hunting Club”

If a B.A.S.S. pro showed up at a Goth concert dressed in his tournament outfit complete with company logos carrying a fishing rod don’t you think everyone would find it a bit strange?

Heavy, it sounds to me that you might have a good color combination for a crankbait...LOL!

Have you looked around at some of the BASS/FLW competitors? You will find all sorts, piercings, tatoo's, long hair, short hair, black, white, hispanic, asian, etc. It all comes down to different people with different lives with similar interests doing what they love. As long as you are honest with yourself and have a strong desire to be a part of the sport, I think you will find that other members of our club will welcome you, no matter what. It's not how you dress thats important, it's what you contribute that does.

You have to go by the golden rule:
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Some people (a lot) take offense in others thinking they are special compared to other people.

I've learned, the hard way, that a humble attitude gets a person much farther in life than being proud.

I mean, being humble would be like saying, hey I have a question...how do I rig this worm?
A bad way of saying that would be:
Hey, I didn't think you expected to see me, I guess I'll ask somebody else how to rig my worm since you don't appreciate me as a person.

Just be yourself and don't get involved with people problems. If you want to fish that fishing hole, just go there and have fun. Don't get involved in "who likes me" "who doesn't like me."
I mean, you can't weigh people's motives that harshly. Maybe that old man was interested in how you live your life, maybe he wasn't trying to discipline you at all.

I also regarded your signature, which said:
fish its good for you
lol
I think that's great!

I'm not perfect myself, I get stressed out very easily. Funny thing, fishing is the only thing that makes me feel better.

Just think positively man =D
You'll catch more fish, and you'll have a much better time next time you run into some guy like that.

Heavy, it takes more than a Stetson and boots to make a cowboy. I recently had a nice talk with a young man at a seminar I was performing In peoria, Illinois. He had a pieced tougue, an eyebrow pierce, straight up ****ed yellow hair and dressed in really baggy clothes. I sat by him in the cafeteria and we talked about a lot of stuff. We found that we both loved music, he liked punk rock, me country. There was probably 30 years difference in our ages, but we got along fine and had a good talk. He didn't fish at all but ask some interesting questions as to why I would. I never pierce "except a bass' lip", but feel it's okay if he does. People who are different hold my interest. I studied Psycology for 2 years and try to figure folks out. This kid wants to be a rock star. I wish luck, as I do with you and fishing. Johnnie
