starting a guide service, I'm interested

I'm actually deeply interested in starting a guide service in the future.
I talked to my dad, and he said it was quite an extensive process to start. I have to get a business license, insurance, etc.
I know there are a few guides that frequently visit this site. What are your suggestions on my idea of starting a guide service?
Are there any criteria I must meet except being able to catch fish, teach, communicate, etc? Does boat size matter; for instance I have a 14' Lund, with a 30 HP Yamaha...it's reliable, and there's room enough for two...is that good enough???
Thanks,
-Mike
