A lake I fish at recently had a big fish kill. It's very dissapointing because now I'm catching nothing. There were some 13-17 pound bass reported being caught there, and I witnessed a 13 pounder being caught...

Is there anything I can do???

Mike, sorry to hear that. There is much you can do. The DNR-Game Warden or whatever their called in Florida, should investigate the fish kill to see if it was natural or chemical. Were there a lot of dedd bass? Or mostly shad and rough fish. We have fish kills all the time, but mainly shad and some rough fish like carp and gar. Rarely do all the bass suffer fish kill, unless all the oxygen depleted. Don't give up on the lake just yet.

hey Johnny,

sorry I didn't see you replied to this thread.

Unfortanatly there were a lot of dead bass, including about a 7 pounder washed up on shore.

Anyways, I called the State Wildlife Commision and they said because it was private waters they couldn't do any testing or anything.

Mike, too bad about the bass. Most be a disolved oxygen problem. Maybe the weeds all died and sucked the oxygen out of the lake. Maybe a fertizer spill? Many things kill of a bass population sadly. Better find a new honey hoile. Good luck friend.

I called it a gold mine =D

Ya most of it's dead now, too bad...

I found some more lakes though, Florida is full of them.

I caught about 25 bass today at another lake...were all small though.
