Hey everyone,

I was just wondering what kind of lures to bring on a fishing tournament?

Good luck on the water..

Luke,
As Dom said, spinnerbaits, however; it's not that simple or easy. You must be able to cover any lake or river system from top to bottom. You need baits capable of fishing from inches of water to 30 feet or more in depth. You need baits for clear water, stained and muddy water. Baits that can be used in timber, baits for weeds and lily pads. There are just so many variables to consider. I wouldn't think of fishing any tournament anywhere without: plastic worms, jig and pig, shallow and deep crankbaits, spinnerbaits, top water baits, buzz baits, finesse worms, tubes and jigging spoons, swimming spoons and some kind of fish formula-odor masking agent. Now you know why my boat sits so low in the water-too much tackle! Try to be able to emulate, shad, minnows, sunfish and crawfish colors and patterns. Serious tournament anglers have serious tackle. Good luck, Johnnie

Thanks for the info...

Another quick question? I was just wanting to make sure that a "Pattern" is when you use a certian way of reeling or the way you use your jig, in a single retrieve. If iam wrong please let me now... good luck on the water....

Luke,
A pattern may be lure type-lure speed-color-or whatever, but most patterns concern structure or cover, if you catch a fish off a fallen tree in three feet of water, fish other cover with no luck then catch another fish off a fallen tree, that's the pattern for the day. Even depth can be a pattern, catch more than one fish from five feet of water and then 5 feet is the way to go. Whatever works more than once is usually considered a pattern. Patterns change from day to day and even hour to hour so stay versitile, remember every bite as to how fast, what type cover, depth etc. Good luck. Johnnie
