Luke, the Pinnacle is a great reel, I'm sure you'll enjoy for years. When I match a rod to a reel, I also match the rod to me. Meaning, I'm 5'9" tall, so a quality graphite 6' rod is ideal for me. If I were taller, I'd go longer, if shorter, I'd go shorter. I do like rods with lots of line guides, the more the better. I also like light colored rods and reels when summer fishing, they don't seem to get as hot to hold. Johnnie P.s., I really don't care for long-extended handles on my rods, gets caught in my shirt too often.

Luke, any time I'm matching a rod to a reel, I takje the reel to the store with me and put it on the rod of choice, so I can tell how it feels. Again, match to your size, I like very lightweight rods with at least a medium action-graphite or composite is okay for me. The more line guides the better, reduces line drag on the rod blank allowing longer casts. Johnnie
