boat rules

Heavy,
Though each state baiscally has it's own set of boating regulations, there are some simple-safe rules we need to use. When meeting an on-coming boat we should stay to the right, just like with cars. When passing a boat , try to pass on the righgt also if possible. Any boat on your right should have the right of way, but be alert anyway.
It's always nice to wave at other bboaters, but be assured you can maintain total boat control with one hand.
When a boat is anchored or tied to the shore, we should slow down and idle by if possible.
Never-ever-cut off another boat even in a tournament! Leave plenty of space between your boat and other boats when fishing unless the two boats have rteached an agreement on fishing the waters.
In tournament blast offs- if you have a very slow boat you should yield your position and allow faster boats to preoceed. If you are passing a slower boat, slow your speed and slowly pass then resume speed.
These are just common sense rules that we should all learn to follow. Hope this answers some of your questions. Johnnie
