I have recently started using Mustad Ultra Point hooks for all my plastic worm (6 to 8-1/2") rigs. The two types I am using are Mega Bite and Ultra Lock. Both are offset wide gap hooks. The Mega Bite hook has a shorter section between the hook eye and the offset than the Ultra Lock. I have been using the Mega Bite hooks on all my 6" worms and the Ultra Lock hooks on all my 7-1/2" to 8-1/2" worms. Does anyone have experience with these hooks? Am I using them in the way they were intended to be used? It just seemed logical to use the one with the longer section on larger worms. By the way...I LOVE THESE HOOKS!!! I RARELY have a fish come off when I'm able to get a solid hookset.

I have been using Mustad for a number of years for all my hooks. I got "hooked" on their black nickel jig hooks for the tube jigs I pour. Started with the wide gap shortly after that. I use 1/0 and 2/0 mostly. 1/0 for texas rigging tubes and creature baits and the 2/0 for regular brush hawgs and larger baits. With the vast number of varieties for hooks, it makes it difficult to choose sometimes. I think it's more a matter of preference or name brand rather than one hook being superior to another for fish holding ability. You don't say what size you are using but 3/0 and 4/0, would seem to be a better choice for the huge worms. I am very satisfied with Mustad's quality and don't look to change anytime soon.

These are good hooks. I used to use them all the time on my jigs for my bait company. The points do not roll over and they are stout heavy wire hooks. The only diadvantage I see to them is the fact that their essentially a 3X wire on the larger models.
