Recently I saw a commercial on a fishing show for kiel protectors. Does's anyone know where I can find them? I've alredy done an internet search. My john boat is in the shop being welded as I write, because of my stupidity. I'd pull the boat up on the concret ramp and get my truck, and load up. Well the concrete abraded the bottom ribs to the point where they started leaking. So these kiel protecters would prevent that. Thanks Carl.

Since you have an Aluminum rig my recomendation would be the Keel Shield, a 6 inch wide strip of very tough polyurethane plastic that attaches with some serious adhesive tape made by 3M. It is easily available through any number of retail outlets, including Bass Pro Shop and Cabelas. If your slightly mechanical and can follow directions exactly you may be able to install it yourself. However, if you have the least doubts about your ability, have it professionaly done.

For glass boats, one way to go, Hamby's Protector. I've installed several hundred of those over the years. Every boat I've owned since the 80's has had one installed. It glues on, once properly installed it will not come off ... ever. Hamby Protector installation requires some special equipment and skill. Generally it isn't something a weekend mechanic is able to do. Also, most aluminum boats have a hull shape with center rib or keel strip that makes installation of a Hamby nearly impossible to do correctly without a great deal of filling and sanding.

Richard.

Thanks RNE, I'll be looking into it. Also, I found the site by accident. Once again thanks. Carl
