Would someone explain to me how the Citgo Bassmaster Classic can be held in Feb. Isn't that like the World Series being held in May?I've had a number of people ask me and I don't have a clue. What prompted this was our local touring pro who got a big spread in the local newspaper, bragging that he was going to win it all.

I think bass is trying to put the Classic on when viewer capacity is greatest, plus the fish are prompt to spawn on Toho and there will be some huge bags of bass weighed in. As for the local pro, he will get slaughtered, locals seldom win on home waters, those out of state boys are just too good. I wish him well though. Hard to explain how you lose at home, I know, I've been there. Johnnie

I've met the guy twice, and am not a fan. We beat him about 5 years ago in our club open. Tried to to talk to him, but he walked away like I was a pest. Among the people in this area he's some kind of fishing celebrety, except for those of us who have met him. He was the Asst. Chief with the Carbondale Fire Dept. Got an indefinite leave of absence, and went out on the tour, bank rolled by his father in law, who owns a car dealership. Talk about a chump with a silver spoon... But I have to give him some credit, he's qualified for the classic for the last 2 years. Carl
