Hey all, sorry been gone so long, been fishing alot lately.Got a question.I found a new body of water, that I'm sure not many people know about.Doesn't seem like alot of truck or foot traffic going to the water.I decided to fish this new body of water, and to my delight, caught some very nice qaulity bass.In one day,my friend and I,caught 20 bass, with 5 bass in the 5-10 lbs class. We found some points to fish, and saw alot of big bass on these points. We threw everything we could think of,with no luck.My question is this. How can we catch these bass, when we caught bass at the same depth,on the same lure we fished all day?The bass were just hitting our crankbaits like frieght trains all day, then, boom, nothing. We tried jigs, spinners and jerkbaits.Any advice to catch these bass, since nobody knows the location of this body of water. That's just more bass for me and my buddy. Thanks guys, you rock!!!!! Bassman

Congrats on your big catches. Those were some nice fish!!
When I see bass in an area such as a point, I figure they have seen me too. So I back away from them for awhile then sneak back to them on very low trolling motor speed and stay a good distance away. Then, I do something a little different. I will take a swimming jig tipped with a curly tail and throw it out on the bank. I jiggle it till it enters the water, if nothing happens I then swim the jig across the surface fast, that way the fish don't get a good look at the bait, and it's a presentation they don't see every day. I like a white jig with chartreuse trailer. Just swim it fast enough to make a vee wake on the surface.
If that doesn't work, I try light colored 4 to 6 inch wacky worm, no weight cast right to the edge of the point and jerked back. Good luck with your honey hole, wish I was there with you. Johnnie

Bassman were did you say this lake is? :p Alittle more serious, where is Bullhead? Worked at the bottom of the Grand Canyon for a year and lived in Tucson for five. Are you in mountains, or above the M.Rim? Do you have alot choose from when it comes to fishing? Just curious, Carl

Hey all, thanks for the advice. Will give it a try.As for where is bullhead city,az,it's an hour and a half from las vegas, and 4 hours from the grand canyon. You all would love this honey hole.Would love to take ya out and catch these fish. The water isn't big enough for a boat, but perfect for a float tube. Thanks again.

Hey johnnie,I took your advice on the jig.Worked for a little while, then it was back to the crankbaits.Caught a few more before the bite went crazy with crankbaits and spinnerbaits.Don't know what happened, but what a rush.Several bass were in the 6 lbs -10 lbs range. The bigger bass was getting ready to spawn. Thanks for the advice.I know now what to use in times like that. You guys really rock!!!!!!!! bassman
