Does anyone use Fluorocarban on Spinning tackle

Post by LD483 »

Just curious! I have never purchased Lighter test Fluorocarbon for use on spinning because its too darn $$$$$. I seem to have difficulty casting 10-12 lb test on my spirex combo 9it doesn't spool off as well as mono. Just curious if maybe I need to use 6-8 lb for better casting results... It's just that I like fluro because its so darn invisible in the water thats why I would like to use it but at that light pound of test theline seems to not have as many uses as 10-12. At least 10-12 I can cast in the moss and weeds and pull a 3-4 pounder out if it doesn't get too tangled. Any advice would be great.

Hey loudog,I use fluoro on all my spinning reels. Most of my reels are Qauntum.I spool about half my reels with different lbs line,as to have different lines available, for any situation that comes around. The line I use the most is 12-16 lbs.I have never had any problems with it.Just spool about half your reel. That should eliminate any back lashes or tangles. Hope this helps and good luck. Bassman

Once you use anything over 8lb on a spinning reel, you are bound to have problems. Give Yo Zuri Hybrid Soft a shot. I use 8lb with no problems at all. Super strong line.
