Hello, this is the first year I`am fishing for largemonth bass. Been fishing for striped bass three decades, but I know nothing about largebass. This site sure has alot of info been reading almost every night, great site. I live on long Island been wondering when the bass will be bedding here , and for how long. I have fished 6 times so far this year getting 14 largemouth, and having a great time. Are they hard to catch when they are bedding. If catching them , causes the bass not to lay the eggs I would rather wait. thank you hooked on this largemouth fishing

Hello Ebbtibe,

Glad you're enjoying the site. Right now the Bass are currently spawning, however, the bass fishing season is closed. The D.E.C. is always looking out for anglers who are targeting bass this time of year, so your best bet is to hang in there until the season opens. There are other species which have an open season right now. You can check out the regulations on the D.E.C. website http://www.dec.state.ny.us/

Good Fishing!

Brendan
