Man it sure if rough trying to fish worms and tubes in the wind. I tryed holding the rod tip down to keep the line from blowing away, but it really hangs up alot on rocks, brush etc.

You guys got any tips for windy days?

Try fishing with a heavier weight. Go up in size till it stays on the bottom with out hanging up to bad.

Fishing in the wind is just tough.

Alot of times I will go to a Carolina Rig when fishing a heavy wind. That 3/4 to 1/2 oz weight will stay down in the wind and you can fish it slower that way..

Skeeter, good advice from Conley as usual. Fishing the wind is tough but often rewarding. Heavier weights is about all you can do and I'll often use a barrel sinker instead of a bullet sinker. The rounder sinker doesn't snag as bad. Good luck. Johnnie

SkeeterZx202c, I have to deal with this everyday in the spring and fall.. I allways go to a heavy weight and big wire hooks. It helps alittle, but allways remember put the nose of your boat into the wind and cast into it.

Use your trolling motor to keep up with the wind that way you are dragging the back to the boat. I will set my trolling motor to where I can keep in place and stay on it. I know it is hard but the fish will be there with there noses pointed into the wind. This will help with the line bend and hang ups.. Also try to put your boat in the calm sides of the wind blowned banks right on the edge and throw into the chop, so if you are fishing a point and the wind is out of the north, get your boat on the east side of the point just where the wind clams down alittle and throw across the point.

Also try to start using more of a fast moving lures, like a spinnerbaits, crankbaits, swimming grubs or c-rigs ect.. you will catch more fish when the wind gets up really good, and remember the wind is your friend!!

I will try these things and hope for a good outcome. Fixing to head out for a evening of night fishing and the wind is up today.

I too suggest crankbaits in the wind. Some folks just don't like cranks-what a pity!! Good luck to all. Johnnie

You probably know, but use a side arm motion when casting into the wind. Helps keep that bait from hanging in the air. Remember curse alot. Carl
