I would think it would be interesting if those of you who will be at the winter shows to let us know some of the new and unusual ideas that show up. There are some baits or inventions that seem to surface each winter.
Some of the ideas are from the small guys and don't get much press but might be of a interest to us the "BASSIN'" public. Give us a shout!

I have found that the Wrangler Pro Gear Fleece lined jeans are really great. They keep my legs and lower body warm without having to use layers of clothes when fishing in a cold north wind and during the winter months. If my legs get cold I just can't concentrate like I should and miss a few fish I'm sure. The jeans look good too. Check them out at www.wrangler.com. Johnnie

Stay-N-Charge battery managment system is a pretty good find to me. http://www.stayncharge.com/index.html

The original Stay-N-Charge will charge your batteries as you drive to and from the lake. The All Charge will charge your batteries while the big motor on the boat is running.

Lets say your fishing a tournament and you found the fish on a windy points. You can drain the batteries pretty bad on a day like this. Its a two day tournament and you get back to the motel and plug your boat in and then some jerk comes along and unplugs it, or worse the plug out side does not even work, next morning you have no batteries charged up.

With the two units mentioned above you charge your batteries as you move from spot to spot. Then if the batteries are not topped off after weigh-in you put the boat on the trailer plug in the All Charge and top off the batteries on the way to the motel. I think its great!!! Plus you dont have to worry about remembering to bring the extention cord.

Its great when you go camping too because you can stay cheaper in campgrounds and we all know how hard it is to electricity in some campgrounds. Makes stay for a few days a breeze when you big motor and your tow vehicle is doing the charging for you.

Has anyone else tried the Hart Throb spinnerbait? It's got a unique double blade set-up-Colo and willow that spread apart or used as a single blade-extra heavy-good slow rollling bait. Johnnie

Anyone in my age group might be interested to know that Ono's Sunglasses offer a great sunglass with built-in reader lens. These have really helped me when tying knots reading maps and various other chores I have difficulty doing since my arms got shorter (near sighted). Check them out at www.onostradingcompany.com. They are good and not a bad price. I bought some for my wife. I still need a full RX, now with bi-focals. These are hard to find that are both not a crazy price and good quality polarized pair of glasses.

I will be field testing Humminbird's new 797C SI sonar unit in February and if it does what it's advertised to do it'll be amazing. It has side imaging which draws a photo of anything on the bottom and the object looks just like what's down there. A stump looks like a stump, a sunken boat looks like a boat etc. I'm very excited about this one and will keep you all informed as to how it works, which I'm sure it will be great. They're not for sale yet but will be this spring. Johnnie
