Hey guys, are chatterbaits as good as the anglers are saying they are? I want to buy a couple of them, but I want to make sure that the baits work,or if they just catch anglers.

They are just like any other bait they have their time and place.

Bassman, I would definately purchase a couple. Sometimes they are a hot item. I use the V&M Lightnin' Blade and really like it. I fish it pretty fast and near the surface. I like the chartreuse color with a red worm trailer. Haven't caught any hawgs on one yet, but have taken several six to sevens on it, which isn't bad for Iowa. I also like to crank it close to a stump and then just kill the bait, let it sink right against the stump-hang-on. Good luck. Johnnie

Four weeks ago I was fishing a lake in centrsl Florida. Only four boats are allowed on this particuliar management area lake.It was a small 1 acre pit off of a lake. I was anchored off of a drop off / brush pile and in about 1 hour I had 10 fish. A father and son were working the shoreline with a noisy lure and each trip around this acre they caught about 15 fish. They were literally fishing it on the weedy shoreline. After they ripped about 30 fish I ask them what they were using..their answer,"Chatterbait."
I went out and bought 2 but had no luck. Last week a fisherman got an 8 1/2 pounder off of a chatterbait as well. These baits seem to work th ebest in low lighting. After about one hour the fishermen change lures.

Chuck, the Chatterbaits are all good. I use them a lot now. I use them just like I would a crankbait, not like a jig. Swim and drop, swim and drop. Sometimes I buzz the bait across the surface, I think that often, speed is the trigger to getting strikes on Chatterbaits. Stay with them, you'll catch fish. Johnnie

"Swim and drop, swim and drop"

Thanks Johnnie, I was wondering how to fish them. I was fishing them like a regular weedless spinnerbait.

I agree whole heartedly they have their time and place.
They are a effective bait because it gives the bass something they have not seen on some of these lakes now I own a lot of them because my wife loves to fish with them.
lately i have been fishing them with lizard trailers and yum buzz frogs the lizards and frog you do not have to remove the skirt but i prefer to throw them out and burn back in on the surface and hold on tight when they strike these they are trying to kill them

Another good thing about the chatter bait is in muddy or stained water it gives the bass a chance to hear the sound too so they can find the bait to strike. I just purchased a couple of these after watching bill dance of one of these shows. Believe me when I say they make a lot of noise. All I can say is if you have confidence in the bait....
you will catch fish on it. have fun!

My Grandson and I had some fun today, we fished a Chatterbait with a BulletBobber and caught some 15 to 17 inch bass. The water was shallow and the fish moving slow so we added the BulletBobber so we could fish the Chatterbait just off the bottom slowly, worked like a charm. Johnnie
