Although mild in nature compared to last years scorcher, summertime is upon us here in North Central Texas. We have yet to see the thermometer blast through the 100-degree mark, even though it has been close a time or two. The days are long and hot, but the fish don't seem to mind too much. At the ripe young age of 3 or 4, my father took me on my first fishing trip. We went perch jerking in his old wooden, V bottom boat on the Lake of the Pines in East Texas.
